Metalhead Meltdown
Saturday December 6, 2008
UGH. Okay I'll get the painfull part out of the way first. All but two songs on this SUCK. Twelve songs of Axl Rose howling like a dying cat leaving you wonder if there are even instruments being played. This compilation of trash may as well have been called Axls Personal Train Wreck. Ive heard bad bootleg recordings of bad bands that sounded better than most of this disk. Now for the good part. The song Chinese Democracy left me thinking about Appetite For Destruction. I really like that song a lot. This I Love, the second to last track, is up there in quality with November Rain. I actually hit the repeat button on the cd player before listening to the last track (I usually listen to a new cd all the way through once)and listened to the song at least three times.

The man named Alice is at it again with a demented, as only Alice can do, concept album. From the first track you get the feel of the 70's Alice. I've had it for two weeks and it still hasn't left my cd player.my favorite tracks are Vegeance Is Mine, Wake the Dead, and Wrapped In Silk. My most favorite is Wake the Dead which I find to be quite catchy (and has a writing credit to one J Osbourne). Jani Lane collects a writing credit on The One That Got Away. Eric Singer who Is still listed as a member of Kiss gets some drum credits and is said to be touring with Alice. This is Alices best work since Welcome To My Nightmare.

On August 8th we went to Crue Fest. It was Inkys first trip to a real concert. My first trip to a concert where i was whacked out on drugs. Well prescription drugs but percocet can do wonders. The late post is due to a short hospital stay before the concert and a prolonged difficulty typing after i had surgery on my thumb. But anyways, back to the show...
Band one was TRAPT. although i do like their music their stage presence was severely lacking. enough said
Band two, SIXX A.M. Nikki picked the right guys for this side project. They rocked. I would go see them again in a Heartbeat.
Band three, PAPA ROACH. I was impressed by these guys. although i only know a few of their songs they really continued rocking the crowd and getting what Sixx A.M. started rolling along.
Band four, BUCKCHERRY. I have liked these guys since they came out with their first disk and honestly believe they should be headlining a tour on their own. I would go see them again in a heartbeat.
And of course MOTLEY CRUE. This was my second time seeing the crue. The first time was for the Dr. Feelgood tour backin my high school days. I was yet again impressed. they can still put on ane of the best shows i have seen. Nikki dedicated a song to his sister who lives in the Seattle area, they did a bunch of the old stuff, and some of the stuff from Saints of Los Angeles. I say keep rocking Crue and while you're at it re-record Saints of Los Angeles live. it's just better that way.

This album Rocks. Many of the songs are in the traditional Priest straight forward metal style of the 80's. The departure from their old stuff isn't as much as i first thought. Mainly some melodies sung by Rob Halford that have an eerie quality and some orchestral backing on a few tracks that could be attributed to use of some synthesized Guitars. I still can't pick one absolute favorite song but a good list to take a listen too for quick samples would be Prophecy, Sands of Time, Pestilence and Plague, Conquest, Alone, Vision, and the title track Nostradamas. Truckinman.

If you are a DEF LePPARD fan you might like their new album The Sparkle Lounge! I wasn't sure about it at first but then I have grown to love this album by the British rockers. I wasn't sure about the band without Steve Clark;however, guitarist Vivian Campbell sure does fit into the band just fine. If you want to try it out here is the bands website www.defleppard.com
